Get Online Week – Eurobodalla
Join us for the first of several events in the region from Monday 16 October – Friday 20 October, 2023.
Mayor Matt Hatcher will be kicking off our first event in Narooma in the Whale Coast Realty carpark on Monday October 16 with a 2EC Radio Live Breakfast broadcast. Listen to the station in the lead up to find out more 2EC.
Get Online Week events have been running in Australia and the Eurobodalla for the past 6 years, and is for anyone who wants to feel safer and more confident using technology and the internet.
This year’s Eurobodalla events will have a focus on “Community Connections and Emergency Preparedness”. This includes education on the types of internet connections available in the region, how they work and what happens in the event of an emergency. Our experience and a recent telco survey has found many of our community’s most vulnerable don’t know what type of connection they use at home or what data is.
We propose community connections for Get Online Week to ensure that our local businesses, clubs, community groups and their members are aware of what to do when there is an emergency event or prolonged outage. This years pilot introduces the high speed SKYFI.au Internet Access Points.
The Tec Exec’s goal is to provide an emergency satellite connection at each of three Heatwave and Bushfire Smoke Havens in the Eurobodalla in the event of an extreme weather event. Please come and say hi, take a skills test and bring along a GOLD coin to go towards funding this project.
About Get Online Week – This is Australia’s largest community-led digital inclusion campaign! Get Online Week is organised by Good Things Foundation Australia aiming to close the digital divide with the support of over 3500 Network Partners Australia wide including your local Network Partner Trish Pye from The Tec Exec.
Being digitally included means having your own device, affordable access to the internet and the skills and confidence to use it safely and independently. Digital skills are vital for everyday communications, work, study, entertainment and much more.
Our team at The Tec Exec will be running several events in the Eurobodalla targeted at business, clubs, community groups and not for profit organisations to help them build digital skills with their members.
Join us at one of our local events for morning/afternoon tea, and bring along your device and take our mobile Starlink Satellite internet for a test drive. Plus we have Digital Trivia and QR CODE Bingo from 3:30 pm.
Plus: We’ll show you how to make your smartphone easier and safer to use while you have fun.
